Hi, I'm not sure about how to typeset a vertical moan.

Two options.
First, keep that fancy line and add a big "Ah" on top with an "!!" on the bottom so it's perceived like "Ah~!!" or just a few fancy placed A's over a bunch of small ones.

Eh, it should have been a simple affair. Just replace letter with letter. Make the line squiggly if you feel it's too straight (squiggly line help readers perceive them as elongated sound), but the already squiggly line shouldn't be altered -- much.

Here what I did
1. brush the letter with white
2. repair the balloon. I don't need to clone the pattern behind since streaks of white allow it stays white.
3. put on the right font. in my case, 'kiss and tell' and 'gloria hallelujah' put on black stroke to fatten them up if you wish. use free transform if the letter is not squiggly enough.

As hard as any other colored page if you want to clean SFXs and shit. It's just more tedious because you have to edit each sequence of the animated image/panel.

I couldn't find any complications with typesetting this CG. It's rater easy.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to redraw this specific panel. Overall I think I'm okay at redrawing for how new I am (this is only my second project) but this background has me stumped.

It looks simple but I can't make it look good at all, I tried the clone tool and copy pasting but the colors always look whack and don't line up, and I have no idea how to mimic the backgrounds effect using just the paintbrush.

It might be easy, in fact it probably is, but like I said I'm new to this so I'd appreciate some advice.

I'd do 1 of 2 things depending on the size of the panel and the background.

1st:
I'd remove the whole background and replace it with my own plasma filter (Filter->Render->Clouds->Plasma)

2nd:
I'd filter the page/background to get rid of pixelation. Then I'd copy paste chunks of the background to cover the text area and the use the smudge tool to smooth the edges between the pasted pieces and the background itself.

Interesting, thanks for the tips. I'm gonna try out both of your suggestions and compare how they look to each other. And actually, while I was waiting for a response, I figured out the 'Heal Tool' and using that makes it look quite good as well, so I'm probably gonna use all three methods and pick the outcome that looks the best. Here's a before-after of how it looks with Heal if your interested

At the end of the day though I don't think I can make it look completely perfect unless I go with your first suggestion, so I may end up using that.

Well the basic thing to do is typeset over it first and then check what remains to be redrawn/covered. Trying to redraw the whole thing and then slapping big text over it is just a waste of your time in seeking perfection no one will ever see.

Yea I know, but if I can easily enough redraw it then I prefer to redraw the full thing so I can easily make adjustments to the text if I'm not happy with the final outcome. There's another page from that work where I had to redraw a large portion of the right side of a page and I made sure to take advantage of what you said.

Ii would appreciate some [attachmentid=115596]advice on the font in this edit. Poster doesn't care for it. Maybe a font with a little lighter feel. Maybe softer, more intelligent, like Cambria? Any opinion would be helpful.

First, you may want to do some leveling to get rid of the dust.
Text is oversized and doesn't seem to be black (#000000).
You should use a different font for the background text on panel 2.
The redraw on panel 2 isn't all that bad, but you did damage the border of the panel a little.

And why did you use the resized 1280x1842 image instead of the original 2101x3023?
