I had to rent them, so I don't have physical copies now. It was fun in the old times going to video rental stores to borrow VHS.

I think I liked the Macross movies and ovas more than the full series. I think it compressed them to the right length.

Macross Plus still gives me auditory orgasms, especially the ending in the hangar with black & white fadeout and credits rolling while the music swells.

I even had to download the entire FLAC OST from boxtorrents 15 years ago.

I remember showing my cousins my VHS collection a couple of years ago, they looked at me like I was mad still having them. And you're right, god knows OG Macross was too fucking long and didn't have the kind of budget they needed. The show was riddled with QUALITY.

Even if Japan becomes an economic powerhouse again like they were in the 80s, the anime industry is so fucked and bereft of talent or good ideas there will never be anything close to Iria ever again.
