After some internal discussion followed by a public debate, we have gone ahead and added a new expunge reason named "Defaced" with the following description:

"Content has been defaced by adding content-obstructing scanmarks, censorship or advertisements beyond what is present in the original artist release, or has been intentionally degraded to the point where legibility is an issue."

Since this expunge type has a subjective element, you need a mod power of at least 20 to start this type of expunge petition. It won't show in the list if you have less.

"Degraded" includes any sort of intentional bad-faith sabotage of the core content, including but not limited to excessive downsampling, blurring, pixelation etc, as well as leaving out core content.

Scanmarks that do not obstruct content or promotional pages added after the content pages do not qualify.

Older low-resolution scans are exempt.

This expunge type does not contribute towards the automatic temporary upload ban.

Expunge type filtering was also added to the expunge tracker as part of this addition, along with some other minor filtering improvements.

Note that the following entries now fall under the "defaced" category, rather than "forbidden":

- Intentionally adding censorship beyond the artist's.
- Having tiny or barely visible images.

You can still access the content if you really wish to. They are just expunged (i.e. hidden by default), not disintegrated.

Finally! It's about time.

Wouldn't it be easier to just automatically expunge every gallery of a specifc uploader (and maybe spare the three serious galleries with more than one stars)? Now people are doing this manually and with some thousands of galleries this will take some time ...

(this will messup the cleanup toplist so much)

Just copying and pasting, but:
It's awkward if not impossible to automate. Can't do it by the scanmark tag, can't do it by resolution, can't do it by rating. Even for cgc's galleries, not all may be bad enough to warrant the expunge. A lot of his older ones weren't that terrible.

And even for the newer ones, he occasionally uploads something genuine in response to a bounty.

I don't. If anything it's sad that someone could be so annoyed at randoms trash-talking you in the internet that you spend years posting content to annoy them and in the process annoying everyone in the community, making you become like the ones you initially detested.

Can/will this be changed later? I understand its unfair to ban people for rules that did not exist at time of uploading on the short term, but I don't see why it should get preferential treatment over other expunge reasons in the long term.

Leaving aside the scanmark, the images are tiny and barely readable (700px in height).
They are intentionally degraded instead of being a low-res scan.
Even those old doujinantena stuff were at least 1000px in height. Those could be called low-res scans, but such 700px trash, NO.
