Autonomi, which is currently in public beta, is a solution to the problem of data loss, making it a perfect tool for archival. The basic idea is that data uploaded to it is split into chunks which are encrypted and distributed to nodes, with each chunk having redundant copies. The resource requirements for a node are very small, so even a cell-phone can be one. If a node ever goes down, new copies of those chunks are created automatically. The network operates autonomously and deleting anything from it is impossible. Uploading data has a one-time fee of in-network tokens to prevent spam, while downloading costs nothing. Nodes are rewarded with these tokens when data is retrieved from them.
