Trois Couleurs : Bleu (1993)
I definitely sense the focus on Liberté, but I feel somewhat mixed in terms of the direction it is taken. There's an implication that one needs others, and can't live truly free of them. I'm not sure how I feel about that; for now it's something to ruminate more on. There is some commentary concerning sex work/escorts near the end that I like, in which a "live and let live" approach is presented through the character of Anna neither embracing nor condemning the meretrix - but respecting her and allowing her to continue unaccosted in her pursuits, whatsoever they may be. More generally speaking, the film seems strongest at its start and toward its conclusion - where I found most of the scenes that really left an impact.
