Yume Nikki really fixates on the color red - which I adore
It's puzzling though given the cultural context; as far as I know red has no Japanese cultural connotations that quite fit the manner in which red
is used consistently throughout Yume Nikki to convey various scenes and evoke emotions - in both subtle and overt ways.
Perhaps I'm missing something obvious...

Started watching (late) the recording of TV show that among other things give news (not sure how to call that).
First thing they announce is England Queen having serious health issue.
I paused and went to check online, and she was to be announced dead a few minutes later (so I will see how the show reacted live).

I won't anymore on that matter here, there probably will be a whole topic about it soon, not sure if it will be in General or here or even in several locations.

Heard Totally Spies will be getting a new season. Wow. It's been almost 10 years since Season 6 first aired.

It would be lovely if we were all taught a common language through which to converse, in addition to the languages of the places and communities of our birth.

Esperanto is an intriguing effort at crafting a universal language, though Toki Pona seems better poised to be able to account for (and thus be accessible to) the various quirks of the vast array of existing spoken languages.

...Not quite the essence of my musing - but you do have a point as English is ascendant right now as a global language, and has become a lingua franca of sorts - much like how French was in the past.

Coalescing around a single existing language as an international standard is indeed also a way of achieving a "universal" language/common tongue, though I'm rather averse to that option as it encourages loss of one's native language -
I personally see beauty in the multiplicity of languages.
There are expressions, concepts, and emotions - for example - that simply have no easy translation or counterpart in English, regrettably.

Murph made two appearances in Season 2 of Archibald's Next Big Thing Is Here. No major roles so far.

Playing online cheapens the experience of chess for me - something feels fundamentally lacking despite effectively identical rules. I miss knowing friends locally who were interested in playing.
The feel of moving physical pieces about on a board lent the experience more weight - figuratively as well as quite literally.

Hearing the "stables theme" from Zelda Breath of the Wild, I think it's similar to the end theme "Lonesome Cowboy" of Lucky Luke, which in turn made me realize it's similar to "Blue Dream" of Aladdin.

Disclaimer: any of the thing in quotes being an actual official name, when it's really an attempt to serve good keywords for people to figure what I'm talking about, would just be a happy accident.

The early SED heavily featured blau/bleu as a color. Yearly celebrations/the anniversary of the DDR's founding used to involve a blue and silver theme (most visible on commemorative pins from the time period), before switching to variations of red, gold/yellow, and black. Older police and military uniforms often had a blue tinge to them as well, whereas later uniforms switched to the more familiar gray and olive colorations. The FDJ - until the very end of the DDR - used blue as its primary color, both in pins and badges it gave out to members as well as the uniforms themselves. Thematically, the switch from blue to red makes sense (red being strongly associated with the ostensible ideology of the DDR, and its allies) - but it still puzzles me as to why exactly the switch was made. The early blue was, in part, a deliberate choice of contrast to the colors of the NSDAP (heavily featuring red). I suppose perhaps the passage of time rendered the optics less important?
