I thought it would be nice to have a centralized isekai equipment auction. So I created a Do-It-Yourself auction thread. You can post your isekai equipment auction there.

Let me know what you think, in this thread. I'll keep the auction thread clean of posts that aren't auctions or bids

What I'll do is:
- manage the centralized timer
- delete any unrelated posts / comment posts / shitposts / too early bids etc
- manage the rules-section of the auction
- create an overview of all the auction lots, sorted by equipment type
- create an overview of the winning bids

Benefits for you as auctioneer and/or buyer:
- Visibility: this auction is pinned, and I'll create the winning bid overview
- No chance of your auction falling off the first page of the isekai trade thread
- The thread is kept clean of irrelevant posts
- at end of auciton, you can see the winning bids
- Equipment is kept in your own account, no need to send it to an auctioneer

Okay let's keep doing this another week. With some improvements:
1. We'll try to sort the auction by type of item
this is done by volunteers, who copy all forum posts into a text editor
select all auction posts with [quote+] and then [reply]
copy everything into a text editor and sort manually
post the sorted auction list in this thread, so I can move it to the auction
use 2 posts if the list is too long, I can fix that in the auction
timing is hardest part I guess, but I think we can start with unsorted auction and change to sorted auction some hours later
2. I won't be doing a separate auction for myself / commission auction. Just DIY

We don't have a solution yet for the 'price per item' function. I think the python script could be modified to find the amounts per item, but then we need to combine that with the highest bids as well. Any help with the python coding would be appreciated.

If you want to volunteer for the sorting, let me know! Anyone can do it, and we just need one person per auction to do it. Just reply here if you would like to volunteer for this week.

Somehow quoting this post throws a 503 error for me
I'll take a look this weekend to see if it's possible to change the python script a bit to make it sort the item listing by item type. If someone hasn't done it by then obviously.

aye I noticed that. The script does give me a warning though. But it will use the most recent bid as winning? We need to look into that.

Suggest to open 2 auction thread at one time, one accept bid and the other one accept entry. The second one start bid half or one day after the first one end and then open another one for entry, and so on. This can make 2 auction per week without shorten the auction time. As there is no proxy bid or bid punish so people prefer to entry/bid at the last time, and people usually won't wait for one week if they really want some mats, so the effective auction time is actually quite short and the auction time can maybe even shorten. By the way the script is still quite complicate to use, maybe update the bid thread is enough, you don't need to update the entry thread until the current bid thread ended

It would be more work, to have 2 treads active at the same time. Also, it could be messy when people bid in the wrong thread, post their auction in the wrong thread etc.

Would also be more work, but at least you wouldn't have 2 active threads at the same time.
However, I do notice that the forum is most active on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. So the midweek auction would get less bids? And, the bid period is quite short this way.

For the script, if you have a server to run the script constandly I can make some modify to make it auto update the post, but I can't make sure the script stable enough to be left unattended, so we may need some security code to make sure it won't crush the forums. Also since Ass Spanker have make the script auto generate the bid items with bbcode, so maybe the messy table that I added before can be remove, add the price into the genrated list can make the thread almost look like Super's.

Well, I'm not planning on running this on a server. I want to keep it low-tech, independent of the person running it. At this moment, anyone can do what I do with the auction. Unlike what's Super is doing, or what Nezu did. If I would suddenly go AFK it wouldn't be a problem for this auction (and arguably, at all ).

There is no need, but if we would need it we could even use this way of working for equipment auctions. Okay the thread may become long, but that doesn't matter because the script reads it for us.

making the bids + price per item show up in bbcode would be nice to have, yes. But don't feel pressured in making that, it works fine as it is.

seems we don't really need a constandly running script, but make it able to auto update the post still benify to reduce the work who want to host the auction. I will make a update later but well it doesn't work that different to before

I'll stop hosting persistent material auctions beause we expect an update on persistent soon.

Rules & explanation

1. From Sunday through Thursday (see timer 1): post your own auction in this thread
- do NOT send the equip to me (Noni). If you do send me the equip, I will return it with 10k ISK CoD for administration costs
- post the equipment in this thread following the example below
- you can auction equipment only. No materials.
- you must sell to the highest bidder for the highest bid price
- you need to set your own start price of 50k or higher; if you don't it will be 50k
- minimum possible bid is 50k, minimum bid increment is 5%
- no lots. Only single pieces of equipment
- all prices are in persistent credits

- you can't bid until the bidding period has started - any bids before this period will be deleted

During auction and at end of action
- You (the seller) will manage your own auction when it ends: send the stuff to the highest bidder with the correct COD. Please do this within a day or so.

Yes that is a risk in this setup. I do my best to plan it so that I am available at the time of closing. However, sometimes stuff happens in RL.

Also note that I change the topic from [auction] to [auction end] when I update. I'll add in the description: please wait with sending the equipment until Noni has updated the auction after auction end time. But as said in the auction, this service is purely based on trust. I can not prevent this kind of errors.

In this case, have you asked the involved players to correct the mistakes? Perhaps they are willing to fix it.
